Trees near power lines in Fort Wayne
Most of Fort Wayne is served by Indiana Michigan Power (I&M). Never trim near a line yourself; report trees touching lines to I&M, which clears primary lines through its own vegetation program. Private crews generally must stay 10 feet from energized overhead lines under OSHA rules unless line-clearance qualified.
Rules of thumb
- Never trim near lines yourself
- Service drops to the house vs main lines may be handled differently
- The utility may clear main lines
