Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Trees in the public right-of-way are street trees. Fort Wayne code requires written permission from the Board of Park Commissioners before anyone trims, removes, or plants a tree in a public street, parkway, or park. The right-of-way is generally the strip from the curb inward about 8 feet. Report street-tree problems to 311.
